QUALITY HEALTHCARE AND ACCESS TO BENEFITS

Quality health care for our members and their families starts with our relationship with the Veterans Healthcare Administration (VHA). In Wisconsin, we are fortunate to have a state of the art spinal cord injury center. Through the hospital liaison and the benefits specialist, veterans are introduced to PVA-WI and our many programs. VHA provides an opportunity for our members to have a comprehensive annual exam and identify changes to their healthcare needs, which may include home health care provided services.

PVA National provides a National Service Officer, (Benefits Specialist), to help navigate veterans through VA benefit entitlements. This specialist is a subject matter expert on spinal cord injury/disease, ALS or MS benefits.

Programs:

  • This program is housed at the Zablocki Veterans Hospital (VA). Having staff on-site at the hospital allows veterans, especially those who are newly injured or diagnosed, to learn about what benefits are available to them.
  • The Benefit Specialist and the accredited admin are a vast source of knowledge and can help veterans to navigate what can often be a complex and confusing system.
  • Our volunteer Board of Directors and Hospital Liaisons listen to concerns around the facilities, management and quality of care at the VA. This information is used to make improvements to meet the needs of our members and ensure that the staff have the information and tools that they need to deliver the best quality of care.
